Our History

Kuebler Shoe Store was founded in 1832 when Joseph Kuebler, along with his wife and two sons, came to Tiffin from Baden-Baden Germany. With an inherited ability to create quality footwear, and the will to succeed, Joseph Kuebler built a successful business.

Through five generations of the Kuebler family, the business became known all over Ohio for its commitment to quality shoes at popular prices. In  1985 John Kuebler, the fifth generation owner, retired and sold the business to his long time employee, Joseph Obringer.

Mr. Kuebler was very instrumental in shaping my fashion sense and, more importantly, my ability to recognize the quality of certain components in each shoe, which enhances the fit characteristics of that footwear.  He instilled in me the importance of a well trained staff to ensure that each customer be fitted properly, and be given the appropriate shoe for their particular needs. With 187 years of footwear knowledge in this long standing business, we have found an art in our ability to select a well balanced inventory. With over 8,000 pairs of shoes in stock for men, women, and children, we are able to fit a large majority of the population.

Someone very close to me once said that to be a successful business owner, you must treat your job not as an occupation, but as a way of life. Getting a heart felt thank you, from someone who had previously suffered from ill fitting or poor quality shoes, is my greatest reward.
